Today was the first Saturday Broadway Revue Rehearsal, although there are a few more to come. I was supposed to get there early, so I got there at 15:30, even though my first number started at 16. There was some fundraiser going on in the hallway outside the Craft Theatre (my school's black box) and it involved some sort of fashion show featuring designs by local Denver designers. Some of it was pretty cool, and all the models go to my school, so it was kind of bizare. But after that began rehearsal for "Let the Sunshine In." We blocked it and I got my coustume. Then was rehearsal for "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat." We tried running the whole thing, but the vocals were terrible, and half the cast members in that number don't actually know the blocking or choreograpy because of the hectic rehearsal-missing schedules they all have. That and I really need to do more character work, like, baddly. But that really goes for all of my numbers.
Since the parts have been re-written to make it easier for us all to remember, we mostly learned parts. They're much easier, and parts of the "low" part I have to sing at the octave they're written. Yes, I've ended up singing tenor on parts of the song...
Then we had rehearsal for "You Can't Stop the Beat." We ran choreography, then ran it again, and again, and again, so that the people who had missed rehearsals could learn it. We also had costume fittings for the girls. The first dress I tried on was a really pretty blue with buttons running down the front, but unfortunatly it didn't fit me properly as it was too tight, so I ended up trying on a different dress. It was gold with a floral print, a high neckline in the front and a scoop neck in the back. Gold is not really a flattering colour for my skin type, and it is a little tight, especially when I try to raise my arms, but oh well.
On the bright side, one of my friends is playing Edna (a guy, seeing as that is traditional for the role) and I got to see him in a dress. :-)
Also, the show is going to be awesome. So jazzed about this.
