This week has been chaos, thus my lack of posting. Since my last post left off on Monday, the beginning of the chaos, I'll pick up at Tuesday.
Tuesday was an interesting day. We ran Broadway Revue twice that day and I once again managed to go to sleep pretty early, about 21-ish.
Wednesday was really intense, though. We ran the show twice, again, but the first time was for the people who were in charge of Kempe Takes Manhattan, the gala we were performing for. They loved it, which was good news for us, and slightly ironic considering as far as we were concerned, it was our worst run.
Thursday was the night of our benefit show for Ethiopia. After school got out, my dad picked me up and we went to Noodles and Company for dinner. Call was at 17 and we ran a couple of the numbers before people began to arrive. Doors opened around 18:30 and we all sat backstage patiently.
By the time I finally got on stage, the show went so fast! As I was walking out into the audience during Let the Sunshine In, I passed by my choir director and her family and gave her daughter the daisy I had. After the show, I changed, and then went out to go talk to those who had come to see me. I already knew my choir director and her family were there, and of course my parents, and my Nana came, too. They all loved it, which was good, of course.
After I got home that night, I took a shower and went to bed, Friday was a big day.
Friday, I had all my normal classes, then, about a third of the way through French, I had to leave. The cast of Broadway Revue had taken over the halls. We all met in the rotunda (outside my school) and got asigned our cars to head over the Marriot for the show. I was in a car with the other Madison in the cast and Samie. Upon arriving, we realised that this Marriot was a pretty swanky place. Our green room was the Gold Coin meeting room on the floor below the lobby. We had a few short minutes for lunch, and then we were downstairs teching the show. Naturally, my two numbers were the longest to tech, but we got it done, and still had time to run the show once. We then headed back up to the green room and sat around for a bit before we had dinner. Dinner was a fajita bar.
After dinner, we had about two hours to sit around and chill. I slept for the first hour, then gossiped with all the other freshman for an hour. At 19:30, Tess and I joined a bunch of other girls in the bathroom on our floor to apply our make-up for the show. Then we had warm-ups and backstage rituals before we headed downstairs and backstage to get dressed for the show. When we finally went on, we didn't get quite the audience response we were hoping for, but the show still went great. It was a blast.
Saturday, the show was over and I slept in ridiculously late. I had a vocal coaching session with my choir director for my Thoroughly Modern Millie audition in a couple of weeks. I'm singing Roxie from Chicago. The songs actually really well suited for my voice, so it's all good. Also, my first movie, a short film called "Kimberly and Amber: A Tragedy." I play Kimberly, and it's really funny and great.
Today, Sunday, I had a Pure Fashion event. We had model coaching for our runway show in two weeks. It was loads of fun. When we were practicing walking, they even played one of my favourite songs, Living in the Sky With Diamonds by Cobra Starship. It's not even a single! Totally made my day!
